Eternal Moment Test Quilt

Image
Here is my test quilt of "Eternal Moment" pattern by Simone of  Simone Quilts . This pattern is currently in  Make Modern  Magazine issue 32.  I wanted a rainbow theme for the orange peels and used up some scrappy low volume pieces for the background.   Lots of orange petals. I didn't want to raw edge them so I used freezer paper templates and starch to turn each petal.  Laying out some of the petals to see how they look behind the giant orange peel was so much fun.  I kept stopping to take more pictures of the progress because once all the little work was done this quilt top came together really quickly.  I love the texture of the mix of background fabrics.  I wish I would have gotten this quilted before Simone's pattern was released but I have done very little sewing with my current eye issues. I look forward to getting to it though hopefully this year.  Recently my black and white mini  There's A kind of Hush  was ac

Double Dash Pattern Release testing.......

Blossom Heart Quilts  is releasing a new pattern on 8-13-19. It's Double Dash and it is a super fun quilt to make.   I jumped at the chance to test the pattern thinking I would do a scrappy version.  I was able to find several solids and a stack of low volumne to go with. I adore the colors of orange and pink and red. There is coral and raspberry too.   I jumped on the large 15" version and made enough for Queen size.  I love how all the scraps worked together to make the lights and darks.  Pretty soon it was huge! I took the first pic out at the park near my house and tried to take some more but the weather never did cooperate until today. I was able to use a ladder and snap a few.  Thanks to Alyce for creating a great design. I think she may be celebrating a birthday now too...Yay Celebrate!! 3rd Qtr Goals - coming late to the party

I am getting to this link up late. My local quilt guild had their bi-annual quilt show this year. There was pre- quilt show work to be done as well as during and finishing up.  Then I had a bonus - three of my sisters showed up to surprise me for the weekend! They came to the show so I am sharing a bit of that. Only one sister new about my "So Blue" quilt - a portrait of my Mother as a young girl. You can read about the making of this quilt HERE   So now I must finish deciding what my 3rd quarter goals are: 1. My DYO Sampler needs a back and to be quilted. It is my goal for July for ALYoF so I really want to get this done.       2. I am working on a pattern test and can't reveal the quilt yet. I will say the top is done and I hope to just get it backed and quilted also. These are the scraps for the 'Flowering Lonestar" quilt coming soon.         3. Is a long shot for me because I already know I will stick others in front of it b
